This shape requires more trimming and careful alignment. We recommend using a level and taking extra time for precise cuts.

Step 1 - Clean the surface
Step 01

Clean the Surface

Wipe the wall clean before installation. Make sure the surface is dry, smooth, and free from dust, oil, or loose paint.

Step 2 - Measure and mark
Step 02

Measure and Mark

Use a level and pencil to mark a straight guide line on the wall. This helps keep the fish scale pattern aligned during installation.

Step 3 - Trim the side and bottom edges
Step 03

Trim Side and Bottom Edges

Trim one side edge and the bottom edge of the tile sheet first. This helps the sheet sit parallel to the wall and countertop before the next sheet is placed.

Step 4 - Fully overlap the side edge
Step 04

Fully Overlap the Side Edge

When placing the next sheet, fully overlap the grout-line edge of the previous sheet. The green marked area shows the edge that should be covered for a correct and even grout-line look.

Step 5 - Fully overlap top and bottom
Step 05

Fully Overlap Top and Bottom

When installing the next row, fully overlap the top or bottom grout-line edge. The green marked area shows the edge that should be covered, helping keep the pattern connected and the grout-line look even.

Enjoy the Finished Look

Once all sheets are trimmed, aligned, fully overlapped, and pressed firmly, your fish scale tile backsplash is complete. Enjoy the refreshed wall.
